JOURNAL 11/20/05
So, I shall make a feeble attempt to report the happenings from Sunday’s weekly get-together:
We began with a quick review of the financial statements for the ten months ended 10/31/05. A copy is available at my office if anyone is curious.
CITY – We discussed this week’s City Council agenda. Butch suggested that the City powers should keep an eye on ski area expansion and possible mining expansion near Powderhorn. Housing will be stretched in each case.
Speaking of housing, Richard reported that the latest draft of the affordable housing code has been submitted to the County Commissioners. Major concern – open space has been cut from 30% to 15 %
Jaclyn was not chosen to join the school board, but she will remain diligent in watching and reporting to us. She is looking for suggestions and concerns about CSAP and the No Child Left Behind programs that are stifling our school district.
Vikki met with Ellen Pedersen to discuss immigrant rental situations. The Multicultural Resource Center is sponsoring a workshop on December 5 to help immigrants understand contracts. We decided that GVCA could assist in the housing area by gathering up landlords for an informational session to see if we can work together toward a vision that would encourage a neighborhood feeling for all areas of the Valley.
The Wal-Mart film is here! Be the first one on your block to show it!
